Babar Azam eyes another major milestone

All-format captain Babar Azam is nearing another major milestone as Pakistan are set to face New Zealand in the third ODI.

The Men in Green, who are leading the five-match series 2-0, lock horns at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday.

The game would present a perfect opportunity for the Pakistan captain to become the fastest batter ever to score 5,000 runs in the one-day format.

He has so far scored 4,927 runs at an impressive average of 59.36 in 95 innings for the Men in Green. He requires another 73 runs in the next five innings to break the record.

South African great Hashim Amla achieved the feat in 101 innings. Sir Vivian Richards, who is second on the list, took 115 innings to achieve the milestone.

Indian batting great Virat Kohli had passed the same mark in 114 innings as well.
