Imran gets bail in 10 cases related to ‘Azadi March’ violence

A district and sessions court in Islamabad granted on Saturday pre-arrest bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in 10 cases lodged against him over violence and vandalism during the party’s Islamabad protest, ’the Haqiqi Azadi March“, held on May 25.

Imran along with his counsel Babar Awan appeared before Judge Kamran Basharat visited to seek bail in 15 cases registered at 11 police stations.

After the prosecutor did not object to the bail, the judge granted it in 10 cases against surety bonds of Rs5,000 each.

In June 2022, the PTI chairman received protective bail in cases registered against his party’s Islamabad protest.

The bail, which was set to expire on June 25, was extended after Imran approached the Peshawar High Court.

Khan had called off his May 26 protest around midnight over fears that that the situation might escalate out of control. He said that he had found out that some PTI supporters were armed while the government was baying for blood.
