Aamir Liaquat body’s to be dug out for post mortem

KARACHI: TV host and politician Aamir Liaquat Hussain, who died at the age of 50 on June 9 and was buried in the compound of Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine, would be exhumed on June 23 at 9:30am for a post-mortem. A six-member medical board has also been formed in this regard.

“The medical board has been formed under the supervision of police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed,” said the office order issued by the Health Department on Tuesday.

Aamir Liaquat Hussain was buried on June 10 after a standoff between the family and the police over the post-mortem of the body.

The six-member committee comprises Dr Summaiya Syed, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital’s additional police surgeon Dr Shahid Nizam, Jinnah Sindh Medical University HOD of Forensic Medicine Dr Pervez Makhdoom, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical College professor Dr Hari Ram Lohana, Civil Hospital’s medico-legal officer Dr Gulzar Ali Solangi, and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center’s medico-legal officer Dr Muhammad Areeb Bakhai.

Judicial Magistrate East Wazir Hussain Memon on June 18 directed the relevant authorities to conduct the post-mortem of TV host Aamir Liaquat. It ordered the police to follow the court orders.
