Traffic updates: Major routes leading to protest sites blocked across the country

Islamabad police have issued a traffic plan to facilitate the public ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) “azadi march” to the federal capital, while Karachi and Lahore police have highlighted routes that may get busy due to the long march.

Peshawar police are also continuously updating the traffic situation on Twitter.

Islamabad

Entry and exit points to the Red Zone have been closed at Ayub Chowk, Nadra Chowk, Express Chowk and Serena Chowk. Those who wish to enter or exit the Red Zone can only use Margallah Road.

Travelling between Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be particularly difficult.

The road leading to Ataturk Avenue has been closed from Nazimuddin T Cross to Geo Chowk. Seventh Avenue can be used as an alternate road.

Those people who want to go Nazimuddin Road should use Margallah Road as the road from Zoom Petrol Pump to Ataturk Avenue has been closed for traffic.

The road leading to Jinnah Avenue has been closed from China Chowk to Express Chowk, while an alternate route from Margalla Road could be used.

Murree Road has been closed for both sides of traffic towards Faizabad from Rawalpindi. An alternate route from Islamabad Expressway could be taken.

The road leading to enter the federal capital through Islamabad Expressway has been closed at Gulberg Green Bridge. Those wishing to enter Islamabad could use Rawalpindi Peshawar Road as an alternate route.

A road used to enter Islamabad through Sri Nagar Highway has been closed for traffic at Islamabad Chowk. Rawalpindi Peshawar Road could be used as an alternate route.

I G P Road has been closed for traffic towards Rawalpindi at Peerwadhai Chowk, Khyaban Chowk, Pindora Chowk and Stadium Road. Those wishing to travel towards Rawalpindi should go through Peshawar Road Rawalpindi.

Ninth Avenue has been closed for traffic from IJP road at the entry and exit points. Alternatively, I-8 and I-9 Markaz roads could be used by the public.

Islamabad police advised people to avoid unnecessary travelling and apprised them to listen to Islamabad police FM92.4 radio station for further updates.

The authorities have set up tight security measures across Islamabad’s sensitive points. The law enforcement agencies will also conduct security checks on the people travelling to or from Islamabad.

Lahore

Lahore police have blocked the following routes for traffic in Lahore:

  • Babusar Interchange
  • Batti Chowk
  • Data Darbar towards Azadi Flyover
  • Eastern Bypass Sialkot Motorway
  • PMG Chowk toward Data Darbar
  • Both sides of Sagian Pul
  • Thokar Niaz Baig interchange
  • Old Ravi Bridge

Karachi

Corridor 3 is closed for traffic from PP Chowk towards Parking Plaza.

Saddar Dawa Khana towards PP Chowk road is closed for traffic.

The road leading to Numaish Chowk from the Society signal is closed for traffic.

Peshawar

Peshawar police are continuously updating the traffic situation in the city on Twitter.
