Omar is a strong supporter of human rights and regularly raises her voice against Islamophobia. She is also a vocal critic of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his policies in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

She is a frequent target of right-wing groups most recently over a video she shared that was taken on a domestic American flight where people were singing songs praising Prophet Jesus Christ.

Her caption read, “I think my family and I should have a prayer session next time I am on a plane. How do you think it will end?”, hinting at the obvious difference in the treatment of Muslims in the West.
