Man strangles wife of 12 years to death over domestic dispute

In another case of horrific violence, a husband strangled his wife of 12 years to death over a minor argument in the limits of Burewala Police Station in Punjab, reported Aaj News on Thursday.

According to details, Mohammad Ashraf and his wife Nazia bibi would frequently get into domestic quarrels. The couple was married for 12 years and had five children together.

Soon after the incident, rescuers rushed to the scene to try and save Nazia but to no avail. It is still unclear as to who called the rescue teams and where Ashraf was when they arrived.

Nazia, meanwhile, was found lifeless and rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Police were also called to the hospital and they took the body for necessary legal formalities, including an autopsy.

An FIR was also registered on behalf of Nazia’s brother, Liaquat Ali, but no arrests have been made so far.

Pattoki update:

Police say they are investigating every angle of the Pattoki incident in which wedding guests enjoyed the food while the dead body of a cracker vendor was lying on the marriage hall floor.

Initially, it was suggested that the cracker vendor had gotten into an argument with the wedding party, upon which he was beaten to death. Over a dozen arrests have already been made in connection with the case.

The police say they are looking into footage recorded by the videographer hired for the event in the hope that new facts may come to light.

They have also secured samples from the crime scene and sent them for forensic testing. Initial reports after the post-mortem did not confirm torture marks on the vendor’s body.

Meanwhile, the arrested suspects are now claiming that they did not torture the vendor to death and in fact, he died of a heart attack.
