Twitter users call out Sindh govt for brutal treatment of MQM-P protestors in Karachi

Social media users called out the Sindh government and Karachi police for firing tear gas and baton-charging MQM-P protestors, including women and children, outside CM house on Wednesday.

“Shame on Sindh Police,” said user Hani Qureshi.

MQM-P workers and leaders had gathered at the FTC roundabout at Sharae Faisal and eventually reached the CM house where they staged a sit in, against the controversial local government bill.

According to Dawn.com, South Zone DIG Sharjeel Kharal said that the party leaders had broken the agreement that the demonstrators would be restricted to the Karachi Press Club.

“They also blocked main Sharea Faisal at FTC for a considerable period of time causing a traffic jam. When they reached near Metropole hotel on Club Road, the MQM-P protestors allegedly attacked police with stones after officials tried to prevent them from holding a rally in the Red Zone," he said.

The police baton-charged the crowd and used teargas to stop the protestors from entering the red zone. Social media users condemned the police brutality and called for the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the incident.

People lambasted PPP and its leaders for the overzealous treatment of the protestors.

Another accused the party of being “fascist to the roots.”

The MQM-P leaders have announced that the party will observe a "black day" today.

One user asked why the double standards in condemning the PPP by the media.

And some couldn't resist bringing their A-game humor to the discussion.

However, the comedian soon after tweeted a strong condemnation and said it was important for everyone to realize the importance of PSL and it needing to go smoothly.
