Islamabad couple harassment case: Victim retracts her statement

In yet another development in the Usman Mirza torture and blackmailing case the victim retracted her own statement and refused to recognise the culprits.

In her affadavit submitted in the court she said she did not recognise any of the accused named in the FIR and that "the whole drama" was created by the police by themselves.

Addidtional District and Sessions Judge, Ata Rabbani heard the case against Usman and other accused.

After the completion of their physical remand, Mirza and three other accomplices were presented before court today.

During the hearing the victim in her statement said that she, on July 16, did not recognise any of the accused in jail and added that police officials would take her signatures on blank papers time to time.

The girl also clarified she was not giving a statement under force and was not willing to pursue case.

Earlier in July 2021, an Islamabad court has sent primary accused Usman Mirza and six others to prison on judicial remand in the couple blackmailing case.

The police challan submitted then at the sessions court revealed how the suspect, Usman Mirza, tortured the couple and forced them to perform sex while they filmed the ordeal.

As per the woman's statement recorded in front of the magistrate, she said Mirza and the other suspects threatened to gang-rape her if she did not have sex with her friend while they filmed it.

Mirza and others had blackmailed the victim and received Rs 1.3 million, investigation in the case of violence against a boy and a girl revealed.

Islamabad Police had decided to include terms of blackmailing, extortion in the case.
