Umer Sharif laid to rest at Abdullah Shah Ghazi graveyard

Legendary comedian Umer Sharif's was laid to rest on Wednesday at a graveyard adjacent to Abdullah Shah Ghazi's shrine in Karachi.

His grave is located at the Liaquat Compound of the graveyard.

Prior to his burial, hundreds of people attended his funeral prayers which were led by Sailani Welfare Trust's chief Maulana Bashir Farooqi at Umer Sharif park in Clifton block 2.

Sharif, whose body has been transported to Karachi today, died in Germany on Saturday while he was en route to US from Karachi for medical treatment. His health deteriorated during the flight and the air ambulance diverted him to Germany.

On arrival at Karachi airport via a Turkish airline, his body has been brought in a Civil Aviation Authority's ambulance. From there it has been shifted to Edhi mortuary in an Edhi ambulance via a procession in which a large number of Sharif's fan mourned his death. His coffin was wrapped in Pakistan's flag.

Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani along with Sharif's sons received his body from Jinnah International Airport's cargo terminal.
