Pakistan records 58 more deaths of Covid

At least 58 people died of coronavirus across the country in the last 24 hours during the fourth wave of the virus, according to the National Command and Operation data.

Punjab has recorded 20 deaths, the highest tally in the country, during the last 24 hours, while 19 people succumbed to the virus in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 15 in Sindh, three in Islamabad and one in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Punjab also surpassed other provinces in total number of Covid deaths as 12,490 people have died of the coronavirus pandemic in the province since the virus emerged in the country in 2020.

Out of 48,151 tests of Covid conducted on Wednesday, 2,357 people tested positive for the virus, as per the NCOC data.

The daily coronavirus positivity rate is 4.89 per cent.

Currently, 4,561 people infected with the virus are on critical care across the country.
