SC seeks clarification from NAB over arrest of businessman from court premises

ISLAMABAD: Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial has taken notice of the arrest of the accused in the Mudaraba scandal by the National Accountability (NAB) officials in the court premises and sought clarification from the NAB.

The NAB had arrested a businessman, Saif-ur-Rehman, the owner of a private company named in the Mudaraba scandal, from the premises of the Supreme Court.

Advocate Latif Khosa appeared in court on behalf of accused Saif-ur-Rehman and said that his client had come to the Supreme Court for pre-arrest bail.

Latif Khosa said that the NAB vehicle hit the vehicle of my assistant lawyer and the NAB officials arrested my client from the court premises.

Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial took notice of the incident and sought clarification from the NAB on the arrest.

The Supreme Court has also ordered to produce accused Saif-ur-Rehman Khan in court.

The Acting Chief Justice, in his remarks, asked the NAB to explain why the arrest was made on court premises.
