International, domestic travelers must be fully vaccinated by Sept 30: NCOC

In its media briefing on Tuesday, the National Command and Operation Centre said that all air passengers, traveling in or out of the country, would need to be fully vaccinated against Covid by September 30.

This was said by head of NCOC Asad Umar at the briefing and he was joined by SAPM on health Dr Faisal Sultan.

Umar said domestic travelers too would have to be fully vaccinated by Sept. 30 to fly.

He also said workers in various fields would have to gotten their first dose by August 31 and second dose by Sept. 30.

Vaccines would begin for young people aged 17 and 18 by Sept. 1. Those aged 12 and above who are immunocompromised will get special vaccines from Sept. 1.

Other decisions in today's meeting include being fully vaccinated by Oct 15 to use public transport facilities.

People wanting to work or visit shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and weddings should have gotten their first dose by Aug 31 and second jab by Sep 30 to enter the venues.

People travelling on motorways should be vaccinated with first dose by Sep 15.

Speaking at the briefing Dr Sultan said healthcare workers on the frontline aged 50 and above could get booster shot after six months of their second dose. This would be available October 1 onwards. He said they were also considering this for immunocompromised people.
