Police arrest 10 more men in Minar-e-Pakistan assault case

Ten more men have been arrested in Lahore for their alleged involvement in the assault on August 14 at Minar-e-Pakistan, said police.

The men were presented to judicial magistrate in a local court which has sent them to jail for identification parades.

The new arrests totals the number of men arrested so far to 40.

According to the investigation officer, once they complete the identification parade, the police will seek their physical remand.

The incident of a woman being assaulted at Minar-e-Pakistan by 400 men has shaken society.

Police registered an FIR against hundreds of unknown people for assaulting the woman as well as her companions when she was filming a video for Tik Tok.

The woman said that although a security guard opened the enclosure at Minar-e-Pakistan, she was unable to esape the attackers. Men scaled the enclosures to get to her; they grabbed her and threw her in the air.

Police have filed an assault case as well as theft and unlawful assembly. The woman said she was also robbed of her jewelry she was wearing.

Politicians, celebrities, law makers have strongly condemned this incident.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar held a meeting on Friday after which two police officers were suspended.
