Cricket fans laud Afridi’s performance in KPL’s maiden match

The maiden Kashmir Premiere League on Friday brought frenzy among cricket fans who seemed thrilled with the chance to watch their favourite players in action inside a stadium.

The league kicked off on Friday in Muzaffarabad with a ceremony in which singers performed; legendary singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is the official singer of the league.

In his inaugural speech to the event, Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan spoke of peace and justice.

Social media is particularly charged by the presence of cricketer Shahid Afridi, who is often called Boom Boom.

He is brand ambassador of the league and captain of Rawlakot Hawks.

Afridi’s team won the first match of the league by 43 runs against Shoaib Malik’s team Mirpur Royals and cricket fans took to social media lauding the performance of the player.

One of Afridi’s fan in a message on Twitter called him “ambassador of Kashmir”.

Meanwhile, the second match of the league between Kotli Lions, led by Kamran Akmal, and the Bagh Stallions has started today.

Lions have won the toss and elected to bat first till the filing of the story. Shan Masood leads Stallions.
