Twitter, MPAs “joke” about Hareem Shah’s wedding

TikTok personality Hareem Shah confirmed her marriage to a PPP leader on Monday, days after announcing it through a picture on Instagram.

Shah revealed a ring on her hand in a now-deleted post, captioned “Alhamdulillah.”

Hareem announced that her husband is a member of the Sindh Assembly and a PPP leader, keeping any further details about her marriage private.

The news, however, became a matter of interest in Monday’s Sindh Assembly meeting, with MPA’s ‘guessing’ who Hareem married.

Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani raised his hands to “show” that he is not the MPA in question, while Spokesperson of the Sindh Government Murtaza Wahab declared that his “hands are clean.”

Provincial Minister Shehla Raza asked Hareem’s marriage not be discussed, stating that marriage is practice of Shariah and Shah’s private matter.

Curiosity about Hareem’s private life also sparked on Twitter, and people went as far as posting pictures of Hareem and PPP leaders including Saeed Ghani, Qaim Ali Shah, and Zulfiqar Shah as jokes.

Some Twitter users expressed their concern over the attention this news was receiving, compared to other more pressing issues.

Hareem herself responded to the ongoing comments on social media in a video she uploaded on Instagram today.

“Please don’t associate my name with random people,” she said, stating that her posts including videos with anyone are for their promotion only.
