Soon after the shocking picture of a child sitting beside the bullet-riddled, bloodied body of his grandfather in occupied Jammu & Kashmir was shared, the world strongly reacted to it. The spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, while reacting to the incident, said that those responsible for the killing need to be brought to the account.

Pakistan too has strongly reacted to this barbarianism of Indian forces with the foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi vowing to raise voice for Kashmir on every platform. Pakistani actress and Tamga e Imtiaz recipient Mehwish Hayat also raised her voice for Kashmiris. She took to Twitter to call out fellow artists from across the border for staying mum about the Indian atrocities in Kashmir. In her tweet, she said:

"If this doesn’t move you, I don't know what will," the Load Wedding actor tweeted. "How can the world stand by quietly and allow Indian forces to act with such impunity and get away with this aggression against innocent people of Kashmir? How much longer are we going to turn a blind eye? This has to stop. Kashmiri lives also matter!"

According to the bi-annual report by The Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS), from January 1 to June 30, the occupied region has witnessed at least 229 killings during more than 100 millitary operations.
