Courtroom layout modified as reporters barred from speaking with Imran Khan

Jail authorities also install a camera in the courtroom

The courtroom at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi has undergone a transformation to facilitate the trial proceedings against the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, and Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Authorities have also introduced a ban on meetings with Imran Khan.

The measures, however, remained largely ineffective as Imran Khan was still able to communicate with reporters, though it was mostly a monologue. He launched into a diatribe against a key figure of the country holding a key security position.

Imran Khan said that he would not spare the person if anything happened to his wife, Busrha Bibi.

The modifications were made in preparation for the hearing of multiple cases against the political figures.

The courtroom, where the proceedings will take place, has been equipped with three glass enclosures, providing enhanced security and separation for the defendants and their legal teams. Furthermore, the wooden walls of the courtroom have been raised to a height of nine feet, ensuring privacy and maintaining order during the proceedings.

In addition to these changes, a directive has been issued to accommodate media coverage of the trial.

A new set of guidelines and protocols have been put in place, authorizing specific journalists and media outlets to cover the proceedings. This move aims to ensure transparency and accurate reporting of the trial.

According to the newly established guidelines, media representatives from PTI and lawyers will not be permitted to ask questions inside the courtroom.

Any media personnel attempting to pose questions during the trial will be escorted out of the courtroom. Furthermore, journalists who persist in questioning will face restrictions on reentry into the jail premises.

To further enhance transparency, a camera has been installed in the media box to capture the trial proceedings. This measure will allow media organizations to broadcast and publish accurate and reliable coverage of the trial.

The trial against Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi has attracted significant attention, given their prominent roles in Pakistani politics.
