‘Knock the Door’ campaign begins in Islamabad to register workers, tenants

Islamabad police conduct drive to improve security

Islamabad police launched a door-to-door campaign ‘Knock the Door’ on Sunday to register house workers and tenants in order to improve security and prevent crime.

Officers from the Counter Terrorism Department of Islamabad collected data on 242 house servants across 520 houses within Khanna and Bani Gala police station areas, a statement said.

The registration drive is part of an effort to maintain law and order in the capital and keep a check on “potentially dangerous” individuals by gathering information on tenants and domestic workers.

The police teams visited various neighbourhoods to gather data and talk to residents about any challenges they face. The officers also advised citizens to verify the identity of anyone collecting data while in plain clothes.

Similar campaign was conducted last year by the CTD, which is officially mandated to carry out terrorism-related investigations and operations across Pakistan.
