Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah is no new-comer to stardom. He has represented Pakistan at the biggest stage and is closing in on 100 wickets as an international player. In his latest advertisement, Shah has put up a performance that is iconic but in a different way.

The ad shows Naseem pulling off a take in a cricket uniform to perfection after which the director suggests that a career in acting might be a better choice.

However, the acting roles, a romantic hero, a gun-waving cowboy, a superhero walking out to save the world, a man gifted with eyes for the first time, and even a criminal who gets his hands on a diamond all end in disaster.

The thing to note here is that Naseem has enough acting chops to even play a bad actor to perfection.

But to remind you that he is no fluke, Naseem switches back to the smooth performer once again in the ad’s closing scene.

The ad invited plenty of comments, especially praise regarding the acting side of the pacer that has not been seen before.

“Naseem Shah is outstanding in this, a new Pepsi ad but actually the coronation of a new superstar,” wrote sports writer Osman Samiuddin.

Another user named Mary Marouf (@Cricket_istic) noted that the romantic setting in the ad was reminscent of a Shahrukh Khan movie.

“Mai agar kahoon …. #NaseemShah,” she wrote.

Yet another user named Abdullah (@michaelscottfc) commented that Naseem Shah seemed to approaching the stardom level of another erstwhile Pakistani cricketing legend.

Appearing in such advertisements is something of a rite of passage for Pakistani cricket superstar and has featured the likes of Imran Khan, Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi in the past.

“Personality, good speaking skills, confidence, aura, sense of humor and above all generational talent. Naseem Shah is so Imran Khan-esque,” he wrote.
