Rafique says incarcerated Khan luckily met family members, unlike others

Replies to former president Arif Alvi’s post on social media platform X

PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has corrected former president Arif Alvi for making wrong comparisons, saying that incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan was lucky to meet his family members, unlike other political prisoners.

“Ban on offering Eid prayers reminds [us] of the ban on the practice [for political prisoners] during your time,” he said in reply to Alvi’s post on social media platform X on Wednesday.

In a post, the former president claimed that the Khan was not allowed to offer Eid prayer that reminded him of the Britishers. He also shared the cover of a book Aseer-e-Malta Ka Paigham by Husain Ahmad Madani and the former prime minister’s picture.

Rafique told Alvi that all political leaders, including himself and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, were not allowed to offer Eid prayers when they were imprisoned.

He added that it was in contrast to the privileges entitled to prisoners. While reacting to the ban, he said: “Such an action was wrong in the past and still it is not right.”

But the PML-N leader added that none of them were allowed to meet their family members during incarceration and that is not the case for ex-PM Khan. He advised Alvi to correct his record.
