A fire in a chemical factory in United Arab Emirates’ Ajman city injured nine Pakistanis on Sunday.

According to the Pakistani consulate in Dubai, a fire erupted in a factory in Ajman that prodecues chemicals for use in perfumes and sanitisers on Saturday.

As a result of the fire, at least nine people of Pakistani origin were confirmed to be injured.

They have been shifted to hospitals in Ajman, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi where all are recovering.

According to authorities, the workers belong to Shaheed Benazirabad and Dera Ghazi Khan. However, the names of the injured have not been revealed.

UAE is home to around 1.5 million workers from Pakistan, one of the largest single destination for skilled workers from Pakistan. The workers also contribute massively to the economu back home in Pakistan through its remittances.

“We are ensuring all possible assistance to the injured Pakistanis and [officials of] the Welfare Wing of Pakistan’s Consulate General, Dubai visited the hospitals immediately after the unfortunate occurrence and are constantly in touch with the relevant authorities,” Pakistani consul general in Dubai told a news report.
