The Muttahida Qaumi Movement nominated Ali Khurshidi as the party’s candidate for the Sindh chief minister on Sunday.

A MQM-P’s spokesperson said it in a statement. Khurshidi, who won the election from PS 119, would be up against the Pakistan Peoples Party candidate for CM Murad Ali Shah.

When PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced the party candidate’s name, he said that Shah would be the provincial CM for the third time.

The election for the office of chief minister will be held on February 26 at 2pm, newly elected Sindh Assembly Speaker Owais Qadir Shah said on Sunday.

Nomination papers can be obtained between 2pm and 3pm today. Scrutiny of the papers under Rule 19 will take place at 6pm.

“A candidate may withdraw his candidature at any time before the commencement of the election by submitting an application in writing under his hand to the speaker […],” the speaker added.
