PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has lamented that there was still no perfect democracy in Pakistan as the country heads for general elections next month.

“Baloch will be given the right to their land. We will explain to those friends who have taken up arms,” he said while addressing party workers in the Hub district in Balochistan on Sunday. “Why you take up arms. Follow democracy as it can resolve issues.”

His trip comes days after Baloch protesters, who had been camped outside Islamabad’s National Press Club (NPC) since December, called off their sit-in against enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings on January 23.

In the recent past, many separatist leaders have refrained from taking up arms against the state.

Sarfraz Ahmed Bungulzai, a commander of the banned militant group Baloch National Army, announced his surrender alongside 70 of his associates last month.

He claimed that the PPP raised the budget of Balochistan four times, but the execution of funds could not be seen.

The former president vowed to take the responsibility of taking the responsibility of developing Hub.
