Nikki Haley asks if Trump is mentally fit after confusing remark

Trump says he is smarter than ever before as 'Dementia Don' trends on social media

United States Presidential candidate Nikki Haley has questioned if Donald Trump is ‘mentally fit’ to be president of the country after his remarks at a recent election event left people scratching their heads.

Speaking about January 6, Trump had repeatedly said that Haley was incharge of the situation and had been offered additional security but had chosen not to take it. However, there was a problem with his statement: Haley was not in any position of power to take any action at the time.

“By the way, they never report the crowd on January 6. You know, Nikki Haley, Nikki Haley, Nikki Haley … did you know they destroyed all of the information, all of the evidence, everything, deleted and destroyed all of it?” Trump had told supporters at a rally in New Hampshire.

“All of it, because of lots of things, like Nikki Haley is in charge of security, we offered her 10,000 people, soldiers, national guards, whatever they want. They turned it down,” he said.

Trump seemingly confused Haley with Nancy Pelosi, who was speaker of the House of Representatives at the time. The office has never beenheld by Haley, who has served as Governor of South Carolina and US ambassador to the United Nations has never been in charge of the house.

Responding to Trumps’s comments, Haley said Trump had mentioned her multiple times in the wrong scenario.

“They’re saying he got confused. That he was talking about something else. That he was talking about Nancy Pelosi,” she said.

However, she then asked if Trum was mentally fit to be president.

“The concern I have is – I’m not saying anything derogatory, but when you’re dealing with the pressures of a presidency, we can’t have someone else that we question whether they’re mentally fit to do it,” she said.

Supporters from the opposing camp posted the video of Trump’s remarks on social media as well with the hashtag ‘#DementiaDon’.

Trump, on the other hand, said that he had ‘aced’ a test for his mental abilities given to him by a doctor a few years ago.

“I feel my mind is stronger now than it was 25 years ago,” he said.
