The police in Rawalpindi and Islamabad issued an advisory for drivers as dense fog covered the twin cities amid cold weather.

The citizens were urged to use fog lights when driving in fog while dwellers were facing difficulties in reaching their destinations.

A police spokesperson said that the traffic rules must be followed in true spirit.

He urged the motorists to avoid exceeding the speed limit and overtaking by keeping their vehicles in lanes.

The spokesperson went on to add that overspeeding led to fatal road accidents. Citizens walking along the road were also advised to take special care.

Meanwhile, the police advised to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy hours.

According to the Met Office, cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country and extreme cold in northern areas and north Balochistan.

Fog/smog is likely to persist in plain areas of Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh. However, light rain or drizzle is likely at isolated places in western Balochistan and coastal areas of Makran.
