Saudi Arabia has limited the visit to Al Rawda Al Sharifa at the Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him)’s Mosque to once a year, Gulf News reported, as the kingdom is expected to receive around 10 million pilgrims from abroad to do Umrah during the current season.

“A would-be beneficiary can book a permit for Al Rawda Al Sharifa after 365 days from his/her last permit,” the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah said in a statement.

The ministry stated that the permit should be booked via the Nusuk or Tawakklna apps, adding that the applicant was not coronavirus infected and had not been in contact with such patients.

The Prophet’s Mosque in Medina houses Al Rawda Al Sharifa where the tomb of the Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) is located.

Many pilgrims would visit the Prophet’s Mosque to pray and visit Al Rawda Al Sharifa after undertaking rites of Umrah at the Grand Mosque.

Last April, Saudi authorities unveiled a gilded brass barrier surrounding the sacred chamber at the Prophet’s Mosque.
