Islamabad Police started setting up alternate routes for traffic as Balochistan’s long march prepared to enter the city on Wednesday.

The march aims to join a protest already taking place at the Islamabad Press Club. The protest, that began from Turbat, is calling for recovery of missing persons and end to extrajudicial killings.

Islamabad Police said that while protest was a democratic right, no one had the right to block roads in the city.

In a post on X, police said action would be taken against anyone violating the law.

The police also announced that alternate routes have been set up near the Press Club at Jinnah Avenue as well as the Poly Clinic underpass. However, Nazimuddin road has been closed for traffic near the Press Club.

The march wound its way through Punjab in recent days where it had to slow down amid reports of lack of transport. However, it still managed to reach the capital on Wendesday.

Police has also set up alternate routes at Islamabad’s entry points near Motorway as well as the Chungi No 26.
