Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party made major gains in Sindh on Monday by managing to bring 32 people from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf into its ranks.

A meeting took place at the house of IPP Sindh President Mahmood Moulvi and it was attended by 32 members of the PTI who then decided to join IPP.

The PTI leaders included Asad Aman as well as 31 other union council chairmen who were elected in the Karachi local government election.

However, these 32 men had chosen to sit out the mayor vote despite the PTI officially announcing support for Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem. This had led to the election of Murtaza Wahab as mayor of Karachi.

The IPP was formed earlier this year under the chairmanship of Jahangir Tareen. The party’s president Aleem Khan is also a former PTI member as is Moulvi, who hosted the reception on Monday.

The party has slowly attracted many major names from PTI including Imran Ismail, Farrukh Habib and Ali Awan.
