The Supreme Judicial Council has unanimously disposed of the complaint against Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, sources said.

The SJC, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, also heard complaints against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi after a 10-minute break, they added.

Khawaja Haris appeared before the Council and presented Justice Naqvi’s letter requesting a delay in the hearing till the Supreme Court’s verdict on his appeal.

It is pertinent to mention that Justice Naqvi has decided to approach the court against the proceedings.

The judge has asked proceedings against him to be quashed and all notices issued to him to be declared illegal. He has already called the proceedings ‘politically motivated’.

However, details of Justice Naqvi’s petition in the court revealed that he will approach proceedings not just with serious preparation, but will come heavily armed.

On October 27, the SJC sent a show-cause notice to Justice Naqvi over allegations of misconduct and corruption filed against him.

However, the judge responded by raising objections to the participation of CJP Isa and two other judges in the hearing.

He had also said that the proceedings against him were ‘politically motivated’ and not legal.

“In the interest of propriety, justice, and fairness, Mr. Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Mr. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan ought not to hear the complaints against me.

“Their participation in the proceedings resulting in a Show Cause Notice being issued to me taints those proceedings, inter alia, with bias and makes all orders passed in such proceedings as being without lawful authority and of no legal effect,” Justice Naqvi had said.
