A resolution to end the circulation of Rs5,000 bill will be presented in the Senate session scheduled for 3:00pm tomorrow (Monday).

Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani will chair the session where a resolution regarding the depreciating value of the rupee and scarcity of the dollar will be presented.

Additionally, a resolution against the hike in the price of electricity and gas is also set to be presented during the session of the upper house.

The Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking Ordinance amendment bill and the Criminal Law amendment bill will be presented before the House.

Amendments to the Guardian and Wards Act, Governance and Operations Act, and Right of Access to Information Act will also be presented during the meeting.

In September, a notification made rounds about the government’s decision to ban the highest denomination of Pakistani rupee.

However, interim Information Minister Murtaza Solangi called the notification fake while vowing to act against the people spreading fake news to create chaos.

The development took place at a time when the country was dealing with rupee depreciation, the high cost of electricity, and inflation.
