United States Ambassador Donald Blome met former Prime Minister and PMLN chief Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Saturday.

Media reports said Blome came to Nawaz’s Jati Umra residence in Lahore for the meeting.

Nawaz’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, was reportedly present in the meeting as well.

Pakistan’s political landscape and matters of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting.

The meeting with Blome comes soon after British Ambassador Jane Marriott called on Nawaz and Maryam in Lahore.

PPP’s Yousuf Raza Gilani hosts US envoy in Multan

PPP vice chairman and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani hosted Bloom and Consul General Kirsten K. Hawkins at Gilani House in Multan.

During the meeting, they discussed strengthening Pakistan-US ties with a focus on regional peace, and economic ties.

They also reviewed the political landscape of South Punjab for the 2024 elections.

Bloom meets IPP’s Jahangir Tareen

In another instance, Bloom held a meeting with Jahangir Khan Tareen, the Patron-in-Chief of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) where the two discussed Pak-US relations and economic reforms.

During the meeting, Tareen said that the IPP leadership had started its electoral and political activities in full swing and that the party was ready for general elections.

The US envoy expressed his determination to stabilise the US’s relations with Pakistan.

IPP’s Ishaq Khakwani and Additional Secretary General Aun Chaudhry also participated in the meeting.

Meanwhile, Nawaz has slowly increased his political activity since his return to the country in October after four years in exile.

Although he has not addressed a public gathering since the mammoth rally on the day of his arrival, Nawaz has been meeting politicians and bolstering party ranks ahead of the next election.

Apart from announcing an alliance with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the PMLN has also invited electables into its fold. Over 30 leaders from Balochistan have also joined the party.
