An important meeting of Pakistan Peoples Party’s Central Executive Committee on Thursday expressed concern over delay in elections and discussed inclusion of people in the caretakr set-up who are pro-Nawaz league.

The meeting, held in Lahore, found most senior party leaders favouring elections within 90 days as per the constitution. Many party leaders also blamed the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz for delaying elections and said that going to polls soon would help solve the country’s problems.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the party’s information secretary Shazia Marri said that the CEC had also expressed its concerns over the attitude of the Election Commission of Pakistan which had stopped development projects in Sindh including flood rehabilitation operations.

Marri also said that the party had no objections to fresh delimitations but had concerns over how long the ECP would take to complete the task. She added that the PPP wanted elections to be held within 90 days but if not piossible within the constitutional deadline, they shoud be held as soon as possible.

The meeting is expected to continue on Friday with decisions expected to be announced. One of the topics expected to come under discussion in the letter written by the President Arif Alvi to the ECP, recommending November 6 as the date for elections.
