The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved a hike of Rs5.40 per unit in the power tariff.

The authority conducted the hearing on the Discos’ application on Wednesday in which they requested to collect an additional Rs144.69 billion in terms of quarterly adjustment. The increase in the FCA will be shown in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2022-23.

However, the hike is not applicable to the lifeline consumers of K-Electric. The detailed judgment will be released later.

Meanwhile, Nepra member Rafique Shaikh said that the members of the authorities also pay bills just like other consumers. “Pray Allah to make it better.”
