Sindh government announces 35% increase in salaries

Minimum pay set at Rs33,750 in the province

The Sindh government has announced an increment in salaries of up to 35 per cent for its employees.

While, the provincial government has also increased the minimum wage up to Rs33,750, and asked the stakeholders for their cooperation.

With the latest increase, of 35 per cent, from 1 to 16 great employees, they will take home Rs35,500 from Rs25,000.**

While announcing the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 in the Sindh Assembly on Saturday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said, “We are increasing the salaries of our employees.”

“A 35 per cent increase has been proposed in the salaries of Grade 1-16 employees. For Grade 17 and above, a 30 per cent increase was proposed along with 17.5 per cent increase in pension.”

He said that the provincial government employees’ salaries have been increased by 188 per cent during the last five years.

“Last year, we increased the provincial government employees’ salaries to Rs25,000 from Rs17,500 despite the federal government’s reluctance.”

On Friday, the federal government announced a similar increase in the salaries of federal government employees.

The federal cabinet agreed to increase the salaries of government employees by 30 to 35 per cent.

The salaries of employees working in Grades 1-16 will be increased by 35 per cent and employees of Grades17-22 will get a 30 per cent hike.
