A Canadian airline has expressed its intention to soon start flight operations to Pakistan as passengers want direct flights between the two countries.

“The effort is to start air operations in August this year,” Zara Airways CEO Syed Quli said at a press conference in Karachi on Saturday. “We are waiting for NOC from Canada.”

Zara Airways is planning to operate three weekly direct flights between Toronto (Canada) and key cities in Pakistan i.e., Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.

The private airline has engaged Shaheen airport service for providing ground services, cabin crew, and other facilities in Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.

Quli added that the majority of the travelers between the two countries desired direct flights.

The airline would start operation with two 777LR planes and the number could be increased after getting slots from the civil aviation authority, he said.

“Saving elderly people from the hassle of connecting flights was the priority of the airline,” said Adviser of Zara Airways and former PIA Managing Director Ijaz Haroon.
