The Asian Cricket Council is reportedly gearing up for the Asia Cup, but without Pakistan in the tournament.

Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jay Shah, according to the Indian Telegraph, has made it clear to other members that they will not accept Pakistan Cricket Board’s hybrid model.

Shah, who is also the ACC president, met other participating members on the sidelines of the Indian Premier League (IPL) final.

The BCCI is keen on playing the entire tournament at a neutral venue, specifically Sri Lanka.

The Indian publication reported that Pakistan will be informed about the decision in the next executive board meeting of the ACC that all other participating nations have agreed to play in Sri Lanka.

The development comes after the ACC reportedly accepted the PCB’s model for the tournament, where Pakistan would host four to six matches of the six-nation tournament at home and India will play at a neutral venue. The same venue would also host the remaining matches including the final.

There was no condition set on Pakistan’s participation in the October World Cup to be held in India, The News report. The Men in Green’s participation in the tournament depends on the Pakistan government’s approval.

India’s refusal to tour Pakistan and not accepting the hybrid model may push PCB to consider pulling out of World Cup as well.
