Release PTI leader Shireen Mazari, the Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court said on Monday.

Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz remarked that Shireen Mazari should not be re-arrested if she is not named in any case. He was hearing a petition filed against the detention of the PTI leader.

Barrister Shoaib Razzaq and Aneeq Khatana appeared on behalf of Mazari in the court while her daughter Iman Mazari was also present in the court.

Mazari’s lawyers argued on the petition of Barrister Shoaib Razzaq.

IHC directed Mazari to submit an affidavit to the Deputy Commissioner that she will not be involved in any such activity in the future.

Imran Khan forgets leader, workers

Talking to the media, Iman Mazari said that she has been arrested three times in a week, and the government should not destroy the houses like this.

Referring to Imran Khan, he said that Imran Khan has forgotten the leaders and workers. “I stand with my mother and have nothing to do with PTI.”

IHC observes Mazari’s re-arrest as a ‘fit case of contempt of court’

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) observed that the re-arrest of Shireen Mazari was a fit case of contempt of court.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the case in the new building of the IHC. The IG Islamabad, the Additional Attorney General, police officials, the Advocate General Islamabad, and jail officials appeared before the court.

Justice Aurangzeb remarked are you [the Advocate General] defending this arrest?

On which the Advocate General said that the Chief Commissioner directed to take appropriate steps at the request of the Punjab Police.

Justice Aurangzeb remarked that the Islamabad Police obeyed the orders of the Chief Commissioner and violated the order of this court. “This is a fit case of contempt of court.”

The IHC Judge said, “Do not embarrass yourself further, do you want me to close my eyes and allow illegal work to happen?”

The petitioner’s lawyer said that they are not even allowed to meet in jail.

The court asked the jail authorities whether they barred them to meet her. To which the jail police officer said that they had two meetings. “On Saturday evening, I told them that you have come late, you can come early in the morning on Sunday.”

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that remember that they are in jail under MPO, these people are not accused in any criminal case, and appropriate orders will be issued in this regard.

Shireen Mazari’s lawyer amended the petition and took the stand of submission.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb said that the court’s order was violated in the Fawad Chaudhry case, the court showed restraint by giving the government the benefit of the doubt.

Can’t think about disobeying court orders

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) said, “These are our courts and we can’t think of disobeying court orders.”

“These courts have delivered justice in the past and will continue to do so. However, there are some legal matters and we are trying to sort them out legally.”

People have the right to file petitions and seek justice from the court, he said while referring to the case.

Moreover, while commenting on the re-arrest of PTI workers he said that these all actions were taken within the law.
