What happened at Lahore’s Corp Commander House?

Visitors not only damaged the building, but also made off with some weird items

Angry protests against the arrest of Imran Khan in a NAB reference started all over the country simultaneously. While protestors reached cantts and even the GHQ in Rawalpindi, one of the main events of the protest was the alleged ransacking of the Lahore corp commander’s residence.

Due to the stifling of internet services and a clampdown on social media across the country, details only began to emerge about the ful scale of the event a day later.

Based on social media videos and a visit by Aaj News to the house, protestors made off with most of the house’s contents and alos set fire to the property.

The protest began when PTI asked workers and supporters to gather at Liberty Chowk. From there they marched as a mass inside the Cantt area, surprisingly facing little resistance.

In some of the earlier tweets, the crowd are shown to be peaceful, almost as silent spectators. However, things soon turned ugly when protestors made their way into the house, brandishing sticks and flags.

The protestors then allegedly broke into the house, laying waste to the furniture and objects inside and also setting it on fire.

An hour later, around 7pm, videos were showing a fire in the house’s lawn.

In the chaos that ensued, the protestors made it inside the house and took away whatever they could get their hands on.

In some truly ridiculous visuals, the protestors made off with two peacocks.

Even more ridiculous was a tweet showing a man who made off with a bowl of qorma and a large fizzy drink bottle.

And in a photo showing a a party supporter histing the flag on the house’s gate, another man can be seen using a golden ornamental vase as a helmet.
