Indian media claims Sikh killed in Lahore was Khalistan commando leader

Parmjit Singh was killed early on saturday

A Sikh man was killed in Lahore when gunmen opened fire on him in Nawab Town in Lahore.

Reports said that the man identified as Parmjeet Singh, was taking a walk with his security guard on Saturday when gunmen approached on a motorcycle and fired on them.

Parmjeet Singh was killed on the spot while his security guard was injured and taken to the hospital.

However, what seemed like an ordinary murder incident took a new twist when India media claimed that the slain Sikh man was the leader of the Khalistan Commando Force.

Indian newspaper Hindustan Times claimed that Parmjit was one of the ‘most wanted terrorists’ in India and was head of the separatist movement’s militant wing.

Other Indian sites also claimed that Parmjeet was born in Taran Taran, in Panjwar and was radicalised into joining the KCF in 1986. He had later became its leader and was involved in multiple terror related activites, the reports said.

Sikh separatists waged an insurgency against the government in the 1980s, demanding an independent Sikh state called Khalistan, carved out of India.
