The Kerala Story is all set to hit theaters on May 5 however the movie has already received a backlash from both Muslims and political fronts for making factless claims.

One section is calling this film propaganda, while another are challenging the facts presented in the film.

The trailer of the film was released last week and has been viewed more than 15 million plus views.

The film starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani shows how 32,000 young women were brainwashed into joining the Islamic State (IS) and heading off to countries like Syria and Afghanistan.

The film is captioned as being based on a real-life incident, while the reliability of the statistics shown is not backed by any real evidence.

Moreover, the movie teaser has also changed the description of ‘The Kerala Story’ on YouTube.

Mohammed Zubair highlighted the changes in the caption of the movie stating: “From ‘Heartbreaking and gut-wrenching stories of 32000 females in Kerala! Coming Soon!’ TO ‘True story of 3 young girls from different parts of Kerala’. Propaganda Movie teaser has NOW changed the description of ‘The Kerala Story’ on YouTube.”

Apart from that, a Muslim body has also announced a reward of Rs10 Million for the individual, who proves the allegations levelled in the movie.

The reward was announced by the Kerala State Committee of the Muslim Youth League. “Prove the allegations that 32,000 Keralites converted and fled to Syria. Take up the challenge and submit the evidence,” the poster by the committee read.

Political leaders raise their voice

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that Sudipto Sen’s movie was deliberately made with the aim of communal polarisation.

“The trailer of the Hindi film, The Kerala Story, which appears to have been deliberately made with the aim of communal polarisation and to spread hate propaganda against Kerala was released last day.”

He said that the trailer is trying to spread the propaganda of Sangh Parivar.

Moreover, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor tweeted: “It may be your Kerala story. It is not our Kerala story.”
