The German Ambassador in Pakistan Alfred Grannas and Consul General in Karachi Rudiger Lotz wore traditional Pakistani dresses to celebrate Eid ul Fitr on Saturday.

Their choice of dress was only one element of an elaborate scheme to celebrate Eid in a pure Pakistani way.

Lotz threw an Eid bash at the German Consulate where the entire staff was invited. Gifts wrapped in glittering packaging were not unexpected but bangles and mehndi certainly came as surprise.

Most of the staff including the male and female German diplomats wore shalwar kameez or kurta shalwar.

They cut the cake. Rudiger Lotz then distributed Eidi, handing out envelopes to individual staff members, as seen in a video shared by the consulate shows.

The German consul general also extended Eid greetings in Urdu. “Aap sabko meri taraf sy Eid Mubarak!”

Consul General “Dr Lotz celebrated end of #Ramadan sharing the joy of #Eid with entire team. Everyone was in such a festive mood! We hope you are enjoying as much as we did! May this joyous occasion bring you & your loved ones an abundance of blessings & happiness.#EidMubarak #chandraat,” a tweet from the German Consulate said.

The ambassador shared a video of him visiting a cloth shop in Islambad. He selects a piece of cloth for his shalwar kameez suit, gets measured, and then appears on the video wearing shalwar kameez.
