The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains and hailstorms in upper and central parts of Pakistan due to a new system of westerly winds that is expected to enter March 28.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected in most parts of Balochistan as well as southern Punjab and Sindh on March 29 and 30.

Heavy to moderate rain and hailstorms are expected in several parts of Sindh, including Karachi, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, and Hyderabad on March 29 and 30, the MET office said.

Rain and hailstorms are expected in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bajaur, Kurram, Waziristan, and Kohat.

Islamabad and the Potohar region are likely to see heavy rain and hailstorms.

According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds and hailstorms damage crops and heavy rains may cause flooding in the rivers.
