A group of Khalistan supporters pulled down the Indian flag from the High Commission in London and chanted pro-Khalistani slogans which have infuriated people in the South Asian country.

The incident took place on Sunday evening when a group of protestors ¬– mostly Sikhs – gathered outside the building at Aldwych in central London.

They waved the flags of Khalistan, raised slogans slamming the Narendra Modi government, and condemned the moves against the separatist elements in India’s Punjab, said the Indian media.

Amrit Paul Singh along with his six companions of the Khalistan Movement have been arrested by the Indian government.

The move was condemned by Indian leaders and they asked the British government to take the “strictest” action against the culprits. They also registered a strong protest with the British government over the safety of its diplomatic mission.

Images and videos of the men climbing the high-profile building were also circulating on social media showing an Indian official grabbing the flag from a protester through the first-floor window of the mission.

After that, a large Indian flag was put on the mission building.

Meanwhile, Scotland Yard said it was called to reports of disorder on Sunday afternoon and that a man has been arrested as its inquiries continue.

“There was no report of any injury, however, windows were broken at the High Commission building,” the Metropolitan Police statement said.
