After PTI protestors clashed with police outside Zaman Park for hours and resisted his arrest, Imran Khan told his supporters on Thursday why he was not willing to surrender to the police.

“They wanted to do the same thing to me that they did to Azam Swati,” he told workers in a speech.

He added that the government was trying to arrest him at the behest of Nawaz Sharif who was not willing to return to the country unless the PTI chief was in jail.

He also questioned why the police was trying to arrest him on March 15 when the court had summoned him on March 18.

“Even the court asked them why they needed to arrest me three days before the court hearing,” he said.

Praising the workers who had turned up in large numbers at Zaman Park, he said that he had initially planned to give himself up but was stopped by the crowd of supporters.

He also criticised the presence of Rangers as unnecessary and said that the army was being pitted against the largest party of the country.

Ready to talk to anyone

PTI Chairman Imran Khan said that he is willing to talk to any for ‘Pakistan’s progress’.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Imran Khan said that he will not shy away from making any sacrifice for the country.

“I’m ready to take every step in this regard,” he said.

PTI’s supporters have been engaged in clashes with police to resist Imran Khan’s arrest in Lahore.

The pti chief has been criticised for putting his supporters in harm’s way while refusing to submit to the law himself.
