Three arrested for harassing, torturing census team in Sahiwal

They were presented in the court for judicial remand

As many as three people were arrested for harassing and torturing census staff in Sahiwal on Thursday.

The First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the Fateh Sher police station in Sahiwal. The heated argument between the citizens and the staff over the questions asked by the census team had escalated into a fight.

Wahid Alam, an official on census duty, informed on March 15 during the census in 80/5R Sahiwal, five to six people including three to four unidentified women attacked with sticks. He ran away with great difficulty with constable Mohammad Iftikhar on duty with him.

After the incident, at the request of the census staff, a case was registered against three to four women including Mirza Muhammad Imran Arif Mani, Shahbaz Arif Baaz, and Maqsood Arif Kali – who have been arrested.

The police have presented the accused in court for judicial remand.
