Rana Sanaullah hints at impeachment of President Alvi

Some people believe president overtepped his authority by announcing election dates

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has hinted that the government could start impeachment proceedings against President Arif Alvi a day after the latter annoucned election dates for two provincial assemblies.

Rana Sanaullah made the remarks in a conversation with Geo News adding that the final decision on impeachment proceedings would be taken by heads of the parties in the ruling coalition.

The minister added that the president can only act on the advice of the prime minister and had overstepped his constitutional role. He added that the president had acted as Imran Khan’s party worker instead of acting as the head of state.
