Following Sheikh Rashid’s claims, former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan also accused Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari of hatching a conspiracy and hiring a terrorist organization to assassinate him after the failure of the previous two attempts.

“I am telling the nation that they will again attempt to assassinate me”, the former premier said while addressing the nation virtually.

His statement comes days after the former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid claimed that Zardari was planning an attack to assassinate the PTI chief.

The former premier said that he had recorded a video in which he had revealed the names of the conspirators. “If anything happens to me, the video will be released,” he added.

Imran Khan reiterated his claims that four persons hatched the conspiracy to assassinate him behind closed doors.

The PTI chief said that he would once again be among the public as soon as he recovers. “The nation must know if anything happened to me.”

Lashing out at the coalition government, the former premier said that the lives of the salaried class had been made miserable due to the worsening economic crisis.

“I had already said that if the conspiracy against me succeeds, the economy will not recover.”

He said that the depreciation of the rupee would further increase inflation and would only harm the common people. “The wealth of those who stashed their money abroad is increasing,” he added.

“The country’s foreign currency reserves have reached a record low,” he said and added that petrol and diesel would become more expensive due to the rise in the value of the dollar against the local currency. “Petroleum product prices will increase by 50 rupees.”

He said that he was asking repeatedly to hold elections, instead of bringing such people to power. “They [coalition government] haven’t come to power to give relief to the masses.”
