President Dr Arif Alvi arrived at Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore on Wednesday evening amid rumours the caretaker Punjab government was planning to arrest him.
A larger number of PTI workers have already gathered outside PTI chairman’s house. Khan’s supporters began to pour in late Tuesday night shortly after PTI’s official Twitter handle said that the government was planning to arrest the former prime minister.
The Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister and many leaders of PTI are also present in Zaman Park.
In a video address on Wednesday, Imran Khan also expressed concerns over the government’s alleged plans to delay the general election in the country.
Dr Alvi and Khan were expected to discuss the general election and overall political situation in the country.
President Alvi arrived in Lahore on a three-day visit on Wednesday evening. He will be staying at the Governor’s House.
The president will participate in the Virtual University’s convocation on Thursday. He will also visit the Lahore University of Management Science (LUMS) on Friday 27.
