PTI Karachi’s leadership to join MQM-P, claims Kamran Tessori

Sindh governor says delay in LG polls is not linked with census but with delimitation

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori claimed on Sunday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was ‘falling apart’ as the leadership of PTI Karachi has also contacted him, saying that “they are also worried and want to leave PTI and join MQM-Pakistan”.

“I have asked them [PTI leaders] to contact Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui [MQM convener] directly. It is not appropriate for me to interfere in political matters as a representative of the Federation,” Tessori said in an exclusive interview with Aaj News’ host and senior journalist Sidra Iqbal.

Responding to a question regarding his key role in bringing about the merger of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) factions, he said that no door was ever closed in politics. “We all should apologize and forgive each other for the sake of our country.”

Speaking about the delay in local body polls, he said that the delay was not linked to the census but to delimitation, which was in line with the agreement signed with the PDM allies. It clearly states that both sides would jointly carry out the delimitation.

“We are trying to resolve the issue of delimitation through understanding and hope the issue will soon be resolved,” he continued.

He said that MQM-P had presented its stance before the Election Commission of Pakistan.

“I have also spoken to (PPP Co-Chairman) Asif Ali Zardari and I hope that the issue will be resolved,” he added.

Speaking about the current issues facing the public, Tessori said that Karachi “is a friendly city for the whole nation but it gets nothing in return”.

“There is no gas, there is a power and water crisis, people are getting unemployed, the economy is unstable.”

Clarifying his position regarding MQM founder Altaf Hussain’s return to the country, Tessori said that he had never met Hussain, nor had Siddiqui ever talked about it. “I am the representative of the State and I stand with my State. Now it is between the State and Altaf Hussain.”
