Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan clarified on Sunday that his party did not opt to immediately dissolve the assemblies as they had to convince their allies. He said that the PTI was not in contact with the establishment, and “it seems the establishment would go for the elections in April”.

“When two assemblies are dissolved the elections will have to happen,” the PTI chief said while talking to the journalists at Zaman Park in Lahore, adding that it would not bother the PTI if elections were delayed.

Avoiding answering the question on Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi, the PTI chief said that a good player was one who did not play every ball. “We have no doubt that Parvez Elahi will not dissolve the Punjab Assembly. He [Elahi] will take the vote of confidence before January 11.”

Meanwhile, Imran Khan summoned a meeting of the senior party leadership to chalk out a strategy regarding their resignations and confidence vote for Punjab chief minister.

Speaking to media persons outside Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry confirmed the development saying that the chief minister would dissolve the Punjab Assembly after obtaining the vote of confidence.
